Swirling leaves, wish I had learned, to dance

Pauline and I are working on a booklet which will feature all the haiku with photos of their accompanying exhibition pieces. It will be a last-minute effort as some of the exhibition works are still ‘under construction.’ But we’re aiming to have the booklet ready for sale on November 4th with all proceeds going to Poems in the Waiting Room.

John Z Robinson delivered his two pendants this week and they are stunning. John Holmes who has been in the news – featuring in the Otago Daily Times and Dunedin’s Channel 9 – chose 10 haiku and has used his letterpress to craft and print a beautiful folding booklet. He told me he’s binding additional copies over the weekend and will keep the type setup for three weeks so he can take orders if necessary.

Both designer wear exhibits are completed, paintings are all ready, kilns have been fired up over the weekend, and a stunning sculpture will be travelling down from Oamaru during the week.

The dress pictured above, (modelled by the lovely Cass), and the necklace on the front page were created by Roadside Attraction and Chris Bates in response to Andre Surridge’s haiku

Looking forward to seeing you at Bellamys Gallery – Sunday November 4 @5pm.
